Dermal fillers are injected into the skin and to soften lines, folds and wrinkles and to give volume, plumping and pushing up tissues. Traditionally, most common areas treated with dermal fillers are the lines from the nose to the corner of the mouth, marionette lines (mouth to jaw line) and the lips. However, advances in products and techniques now allow us to treat areas in the upper and mid face such as the forehead, temples, eye hollows and cheeks.
The fillers we use are predominantly composed of non-animal sourced Hyaluronic acid which is stabilised into a gel.
Hyaluronic acid is a type of sugar (polysaccharide) that is present in body tissues, such as in skin and cartilage. It is able to combine with water and swell when in gel form, causing a smoothing/filling effect. These fillers are naturally absorbed by the body over a period of 6-12 months.
Dermal fillers plump out fine lines and wrinkles to restore a more youthful appearance, and at Care Dental we understand the importance of maintaining healthy, young skin using the most natural option available. We use a dermal filler called hyaluronic acid (HA), which is something that already naturally occurs in the body – in fact about 50 percent of the body’s HA is found in the skin. As we age the levels of HA decrease and our skin loses hydration, causing classic signs of ageing. HA dermal fillers are a popular option to support the skin’s structures and moisture, effectively delaying these classic signs of ageing.
Facial Sculpting
Fillers can be used to define and enhance facial features. Restoring volume to cheeks and under the eyes (tear troughs) can give a fresh, rejuvenated appearance. Nose, chins and jaw-lines can be subtly reshaped to create facial harmony.
Lip Enhancement
Soft, hydrating fillers specially designed for the lip area can restore fullness that has become depleted through time. The lip line can be rebalanced, defined and accentuated – anything from a mild enhancement to a full re-shaping of the lips.
HA can restore lost volume in the cheeks, nose, between the eyebrows and around the mouth, as well as address deep lines and wrinkles.
At Care Dental we will discuss with you an agreed and personalised treatment plan to achieve the look you envision and your treatment will be tailored to you. The procedure is straightforward and consists of a few small injections to administer the filler. We apply an anaesthetic cream and the whole procedure for HA dermal fillings will take between half an hour to an hour, while the effects can last from a few months to a couple of years.
